Felix's New House - 500 Acts of Kindness help our students' families
Most of our students have to cope with very difficult conditions at home whilst trying to pass their secondary exams that equate to our A'levels. But when your house needs major repairs, it can be almost impossible.
This is why SSF has started to improve students' homes which present the most challenges. Initially SSF found funds for the mabati tin sheets that are essential for water proof roofs. The community and particulary the local church members then provided the timbers and family, friends and others helped with the construction.
Funds for the first two houses were donated but that was as far as SSF could stretch whilst maintaining all the other aspects of support required. Then 500 Acts of Kindness (a second charity) stepped in with a donation which allowed 2 more houses to be planned. This time Mitchele and Felix's families were selected. Each has a mother bringing up 4 - 6 children and without some kind of help the family situations would deteriorate rapidly. But each family had land for growing their own crops if only they had a suitable house to live and sleep in.
Thanks to 500 Acts of Kindness, a UK charity both families will be rehoused in the next few weeks.

Today's update (20/09/21) The mabati roof is now on and nearly complete. A mixture of local mud/soil and aggregate will then infill the supports and it will be allowed to dry out thoroughly before a fine smooth finish is applied.
