Mitchele is a Form 2 student which is the equivalent of Year 11/GCSE in UK schools. Her family has land but the house is not fit for habitation. She had been living with her mother and 3 sisters in a one roomed rented property! Now with 500Acts of Kindness' help they have moved back to their own land and will soon move into their own 3 roomed house.

This is Mitchele's new house. The mabati tin is the limiting factor in rebuilding houses. It is far too expensive for single parent families or families in severe need to buy. But if funds can be found to buy the sheets for these very needy families the church and the community support gets the job done surprisingly quickly. Once the basic house structure is complete, gutters/water butts can be added which will provide a supply of fresh drinking water for a lot of the year. Otherwise polluted river water is the only supply.

Mitchele works so hard at home, planting & tending crops and doing vital housework. Then she does a full day's work at school working on 10 different subjects. She gets homework everyday but it is impossible to work once it gets dark which is an hour after getting home. So she catches up by getting to school very early the following day and spending 90 minutes working before the school day starts.
Many of our students don't have any food before they leave home but once at school they get 2 meals a day including a very welcome cup pf porridge around 10.00 am.
Mitchele is already growing crops on her family's land to support her siblings
